With Final Fantasy XIII-2 being readied for release, what’s the next step for Square Enix’s never-ending RPG franchise? Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still in the works, and Final Fantasy Type-0 has yet to make it Stateside. Final Fantasy XIV will be getting overhauled later this year, as well.

But what if that isn’t enough Final Fantasy to sate the most ardent Square Enix fan’s appetite? Well, it appears Square Enix has plans for yet another spin-off series.

Siliconera discovered a new trademark for “Final Fantasy Dimensions.” The trademark was filed in Japan for use with “video games and related media in Europe.” The site postulates that this could be a Westernized title for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, a 3DS RPG that has yet to be announced for Western release.

Given the “Dimensions” subtitle, it seems likely that this title will apply to a 3DS game. Bravely Default’s gameplay is supposedly similar to that of Final Fantasy V, so a Final Fantasy rebranding would not only make sense, but help sales as well.

After watching the Japanese trailer, your interest mus be piqued, right? Imagine how much more you’d be interested if this game weren’t called Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.
