Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition announced for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii

Konami has announced Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition. It will be available Spring for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare, and smartphones.

How can a storied franchise like Frogger stay relevant in today’s modern world? By going hyper, of course. Following the footsteps of Namco Bandai’s successful arcade revamps, Konami has announced Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition. It will be available Spring for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare, and smartphones.

The remake is being developed by Zombie Studios, who previously collaborated with Konami on the two Saw video games.

Frogger’s “Hyper Arcade” mode features updated visuals that are more-than-reminiscent of Namco’s remakes. However, traditional types can settle for 8-bit sprites not only from Frogger, but from Castlevania and Contra as well. There’s also support for four-player matches, somehow.
