If you were planning on ceremoniously destroying your hard drive after completing the Mass Effect trilogy, please reconsider. BioWare has reminded gamers to keep their save files after completing Mass Effect 1 and 2, so that data could be transferred into future titles. Although Mass Effect 3 marks the end of Shepard’s journey, BioWare associate producer Mike Gamble told fans that “it wouldn’t be a bad idea” to keep your ME3 saves.

“Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea,” he teased to GamerZines.

BioWare has repeated numerous times that Mass Effect 3 would not be the end of the franchise. Most recently, Gamble said that the series has “so much to draw from” for future titles.

While Gamble may be teasing future Mass Effect games for the current generation of consoles, he could also be referring to post-launch DLC. “We’re also planning some DLC on the single-player side, because it did really good in Mass Effect 2,” Casey Hudson confirmed. “The adventure-type DLC will happen in the time frame of Mass Effect 3, within your Mass Effect 3 storyline.”
