Roadhouse Interactive and A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games have announced that they’re partnering with the newly-formed entity Infinite Game Publishing to deliver MechWarrior Tactics, a free-to-play, turn-based tactical combat game for PC later this year.

Set in the year 3025, MechWarrior Tactics will feature asynchronous, turn-based combat, and a large variety of customization options.

The announcement was revealed after a countdown on the game’s official website. Though no details are present on the actual site–save for a promotional image–completing the free registration serves up some more details for interested parties.

Global leaderboards and combat replay features will be included, and though the skinny on microtransactions hasn’t been shared yet, it’s likely that it will enable players to purchase things like new weapons and mech-parts with cash, rather than earning them through the course of normal gameplay. Or hats, perhaps. We all know how how people love virtual head-wear.
