Slender: The Arrival creeping up on us

Look out behind you! Slender: The Arrival, a game inspired by the indie hit Slenderman, is headed to PC as a commercial release.

If you’re a regular visitor to Shacknews’ Chatty, chances are you’ve come across some talk about an indie game starring a deliciously frightening and relentless figure known as the Slenderman. We’ve recently discovered that the game’s creator Mark Hadley of Parsec Productions is teaming up with indie developer Blue Isle Studios to further realize and expand the concept as a commercial release for PC with Slender: The Arrival.

Just who is this Slenderman, you ask? To be blunt, if you like some horror in your videogames on occasion, you need to check out Hadley’s original effort, Slender: The Eight Pages. The short, free, incredibly atmospheric experience is a white-knuckler that tasks players with locating eight pages hidden across various landmarks in a dark forest while being pursued by the aforementioned Slenderman. Think of it as a sort of interactive Blair Witch Project.

According to the new Slender: The Arrival site, upcoming game will include “more levels, improved visuals, and an engaging storyline.” We can confirm that the visuals have been much improved, thanks to the couple of early screenshots that have been released.

This isn’t to be confused the other Slenderman-inspired project called Slender: Source that is being developed by a team of mods independently of Blue Isle and Hadley. It still looks pretty neat though, promising 4-player mode.

Little else is known about the new project as of yet, including when it’s expected to release, but we’ll keep you posted when we hear more. In the meantime, we’ll be stocking up on some adult diapers in preparation for its eventual arrival.
