Star Wars: The Old Republic was quite an expensive endeavor for Electronic Arts, with one report pegging development costs of over $200 million (and counting). EA must be relieved to announce that The Old Republic has sold through more than 2 million units, and has retained 1.7 million active subscribers. That’s a lot more than the “1 million customers” needed to make the game profitable.

Of course, every MMO needs a clear path forward to continue to be successful. That’s where fans will come in. In addition to announcing their financials, Electronic Arts has also announced the first ever “Guild Summit” for the game. To be held in Austin in March, “guild leaders from around the world will gather together to discuss the state of the game with the developers from BioWare Austin.”

According to the announcement, “the goal of the summit is to facilitate an open discussion between guild leaders and the game design team.” The invite-only event will take place from March 4th through the 6th at the DoubleTree Hotel. While many have already received their invites, you can apply for a chance on The Old Republic website.
